This time, I want to take the opportunity to explain how ELCITA is governed. ELCITA is a municipal body set up in 2013 by the Karnataka government.

ELCITA’s mandate includes providing municipal services including: maintenance, safety, traffic management, and regulation. granting approvals relating to building, Khata, and trade licenses and town planning. It collects levies from member industries to execute its functions, part of which are shared with surrounding panchayats too.

The first ELCITA committee was nominated by the government (more details here) and subsequent committees will be elected by due process. The day to day affairs are managed by officials including CEO, COO, and CSO. See details here.
